It’s estimated that there are over 5 million super accounts out there that have lost their owners.
An account is considered lost if it's been inactive for two years or if mail sent out by a super fund is twice returned unanswered. If you have changed jobs, address or even your name, you could be one of the millions of Australians with unclaimed super.
It’s your money, so why not track it down.
The ATO's SuperSeeker website
The ATO runs a free online service called SuperSeeker to help you check for any lost super. You'll need to provide your:
-
Name
-
Tax file number (TFN)
-
Date of birth
If they have a record for you, they'll provide you with the name of the fund that may have your super. You’ll need to check with that fund. You can transfer lost money into Vision Super easily by downloading and completing a Rollover form (Form 35).
