Grow your super with spouse contributions
Your spouse (whether of the same or different sex) can make contributions to your account no matter what you earn, but if you're on a low income, they get a special rebate.
If your assessable income is less than $10,800, your spouse can contribute up to $3,000 into your account each year and receive a tax offset of 18% of their contribution. If you earn less than $13,800, your spouse can still receive a partial rebate on their contribution.
Your spouse simply has to BPay the super contribution into your account (or send us a cheque), and claim the rebate via their tax return.
Please be aware that contribution caps apply to the amount of contributions you are allowed to receive in your super each year.
