Increased account security measures

23 June, 2023 | 3 min read

If you’re an app user, you may have noticed the introduction of two-factor authentication, an important change to our security processes, when you logged in to your Vision Super online account using your computer late last year.

Two-factor authentication helps to provide enhanced security of your details and the privacy of your account. It’s safer than traditional usernames and passwords and is one of the most effective ways to protect against unauthorised access to your valuable information and your money.

What’s next?

From this week, when you access your Vision Super mobile app, you’ll be prompted to update your app and re-register for two-factor authentication. Previously you could log in to the app with just your password and or pin number. Two-factor authentication now adds another layer of security to the login sequence in addition to your password to confirm your identity.

When you update the Vision Super app, you will log in with your member number and password; you will then receive a unique six-digit token sent to you via text message using the mobile number we have on file for you. The token will be sent to your email if we don’t have your mobile number. Once you enter your unique six-digit token, the app will auto-validate your token, and you will be required to set a personalised pin for future logins.

Your unique six-digit token will expire after ten minutes. You will need to begin the process of logging in again if more than ten minutes have passed since you started logging in.

We’re also introducing an option for you to use the biometric capabilities of your phone. If your phone has fingerprint or facial recognition, this technology can allow you to authenticate your identity quickly and conveniently without needing to remember a password. Don’t forget to switch your app notifications on to be notified when you receive a contribution.

We urge you to stay vigilant for unusual activity, which could also include receiving scam calls.

Artificial Intelligence

While AI is not a new concept, the recent development of generative AI may provide a material boost to productivity over the medium term. Generative AI involves “training” software on a designated set of data, which can be very large. Following the “training” phase, some generative AI software will respond to requests to create outputs such as text, images, videos, and audio. While there are a range of issues with some of the responses (eg. errors), they tend to be far better than those produced by AI in the past.
